"Leaving the Hogar was very difficult, but I left happy knowing that I had made so many beautiful memories! I know is sounds silly to claim that a person can grow and change in three weeks time, but I believe God works miracles at the Hogar. In my experience at the Hogar, the patients and volunteers live in an exchange of love - but only if you give yourself to the experience wholeheartedly. I hope to return to the Hogar again, but in the meantime I'll do what I can to teach and live the lessons and I learned with everyone I meet. Volunteering at the Hogar is life changing - YOU should try it!" |

"Urpichallay helped us truly understand the need that the community had and helped us meet those needs with in various areas. As volunteers, we helped in the beautification of a school, giving lessons in English, working closely with agrarian farmers in the output of crops, and doing various arts and crafts with students that were having family troubles. You meet so many people and learn about the ancient culture of the Inca and their cosmic outlook on life which I feel is very much present in the natives that live in these small communities now. It was a beautiful thing to see people confide in each other." |

Yachay Wasi

"We got to experience and volunteer with all of what Arequipa has to offer, as we offer what we can back. I have always learned about reciprocity, but only now am I taking it into full action. I am beginning to notice and see myself growing into a member of Yachay Wasi. I realized that giving back and volunteering does not stop after this is over. The real test happens after we leave Peru. I have learned that the depth in which I have learned throughout volunteering here in Peru can barely be spoken with words." |
